Used book collection campaign
Overview
Shinjuku Park Tower will be collecting used books from the homes and offices of our tenant companies and donating them to organizations involved in social welfare, environmental issues, and education through "Charibon" (※1), operated by Value Books Inc.
In this campaign, the number of books and items donated by each tenant company will be tallied, and the top-ranking companies (※2) will be announced on this portal site, in-building signage, and the Shinjuku Park Tower website.
Please contact your company's general affairs department for information on participation status.
※1: Charibon is a platform for donating used books, operated by Value Books Inc., where the assessed value of finished books, DVDs, etc., is donated to various NPO organizations and universities as funding for their activities.
※2: The tally will be based on the number of books/items per employee according to the 2026 annual verification form.
How to Participate
Place books in cardboard boxes
Please place any unwanted books or other items from your home or company into the collection cardboard boxes set up at each company.
- Collection cardboard boxes will be prepared by the building management and distributed to each tenant.
- Collection boxes will be installed in the exclusive area of each tenant. Size: [approx. 45cm W × 30cm D × 30cm H]
- All collection, counting (number of books/items), packing, and shipping will be handled by Tokyo Gas Facility Service (collection is expected on the last day or once a week).
- If a box fills up during the period, please contact Tokyo Gas Facility Service at 03-5322-6611. We will arrange for a new box or additional collection.
Collection and Appraisal
The collected books and other items will be sent to Value Books Inc., which operates the used book donation platform Charibon. Value Books will then purchase and appraise the items, and those that cannot be sold will be donated or recycled.
Items eligible for appraisal can be found here: https://www.charibon.jp/guide/?gid=guide0001
Items not eligible for appraisal can be found here: https://www.charibon.jp/guide/?gid=guide0004
Donation to Social Contribution Organizations
The proceeds from the sale of books and other items will be donated to social contribution organizations. The results, including the donation amount, will be reported at a later date.
This is a private non-profit organization that supports children who have lost a parent due to illness, disaster, suicide, or whose parents are unable to work sufficiently due to disabilities, through scholarships, educational support, and emotional care. Since the "Ashinaga Movement" began in 1969, it has supported over 110,000 bereaved children.
This program utilizes the Charibon system to donate the equivalent value of purchased books as domestic disaster relief funds to the affected areas (Ishikawa, Toyama, and Niigata prefectures) through the Japanese Red Cross Society.
Items for Collection
Used books, CDs, DVDs
Books without an ISBN, encyclopedias, convenience store comics, self-published books, manga magazines, general magazines, 11 or more copies of the same title, single CDs, CDs/DVDs with voting tickets or other special offers, and all products that may violate public order and morals.
We look forward to your participation.
