Product Fair Overview
Suttu Town, Hokkaido, famous as a town of wind, fishing, and marine product processing, will hold a fair selling local specialties on December 19th and 20th in the B1F of Shinjuku Park Tower. Please come and visit us!
Visitor Benefits
The first 50 visitors on each day who spend 1,000 yen (tax included) or more will receive "Suttu's Delicious Delicacies" as a gift.
Background of the Product Fair
Suttu Town, located in the southwestern part of Hokkaido and facing the Sea of Japan, is an ideal location for renewable energy, including wind power generation, and holds the potential for creating clean energy. However, it faces challenges such as a declining and aging population, and a labor shortage. To promote sustainable regional economic development, one of the key issues is the promotion and expansion of sales channels for local products.
To address this, the "Suttu Town Fair" project was launched with the cooperation of Hokkaido Electric Power Co., Inc., aiming to expand new sales channels in the Tokyo metropolitan area for Suttu Town's specialty products and increase regional recognition.
We have carefully selected products, including ingredients perfect for the year-end and New Year holidays, so please take this opportunity to visit and support Suttu Town.

December 19, 2024 (Thursday) 11:00 AM - 7:00 PM
December 20, 2024 (Friday) 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM

■Social Impact "New Agricultural Style × Renewable Energy"
~~What is Kaze no Basil?~~

With the desire to create a new specialty product for Suttu Town, hydroponic cultivation of basil began with a new agricultural style. Basil has low cold resistance and is often cultivated in warm regions of Japan, such as Kyushu and Okinawa. What made it possible to harvest basil, which is vulnerable to cold, year-round through hydroponic cultivation in greenhouses, is "renewable energy" from wind power generation and highly heat-efficient "biomass boilers." Electricity is supplied from wind power generation facilities, and heat is generated using biomass boilers (solid fuel RPF made from waste paper and waste plastic) as renewable energy.
Furthermore, the vertical hydroponic cultivation method used in Suttu Town's basil cultivation allows for efficient cultivation in a small area and quick response to diseases and poor growth.
Clean energy and effective cultivation methods have opened up new agricultural possibilities in Suttu Town.
