Overview of the Product Fair
Lake Akan Onsen, home to large colonies of the specially protected natural monument "Akan Marimo," is famous for its rare caldera lake, a sight seldom seen anywhere else in the world. We are bringing many local specialty products from Akan Lake Onsen to Shinjuku Park Tower B1F for a sales event on Thursday, July 24th, and Friday, July 25th. Please stop by.
Visitor Benefits
The first 100 customers (200 over two days) who purchase products at the venue will receive a Marimo keychain as a gift.

Background of the Product Fair
Located in eastern Hokkaido, Akan Lake Onsen is one of Hokkaido's leading hot spring resorts. While soaking in the baths, the panoramic view of Lake Akan and the surrounding mountains is breathtaking. Many of the hot springs are simple hot springs known as "the bath for everyone" and "the bath for neuralgia," making them suitable for all ages, from children to the elderly.
This Akan Lake Onsen Fair project was launched with the cooperation of Hokkaido Electric Power Co., Inc. to expand sales channels for Akan Lake Onsen's specialty products and increase regional recognition.
We have a selection of excellent products, including Marimo-related goods, "Mukkuri" (an Ainu instrument), "Wakasagi Jerky" perfect for an evening drink, and even the amusing "Marimokkori." We hope you will take this opportunity to visit the venue and show your support for Akan Lake Onsen.
Event Dates and Times
Thursday, July 24, 2025: 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Friday, July 25, 2025: 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM

■ Social Impact: "Specified Invasive Species × Specialty Products"
~What is "Lake Lobster," the lake's nuisance?~
Lake lobster is an invasive species of crayfish, originally from North America, called "Signal Crayfish" (Uchida Zarigani), which was introduced to Lake Akan for ornamental and culinary purposes and has since reproduced naturally. Since it preys on the native Japanese crayfish, it has been designated as a specified invasive species and has been a target for eradication in Lake Akan for many years.
However, despite being a nuisance in the lake, Lake Lobster has a sweetness and rich flavor similar to shrimp and crab, and the dashi (broth) extracted from its shells is exceptional. With a reverse approach, the Akan Lake Fisheries Cooperative has actively promoted Lake Lobster as a tourism resource.
Today, Lake Lobster has become a prominent tourism resource, one of Lake Akan's leading luxury ingredients, attracting interest even from famous restaurants.
At the event venue, we will offer a soup where you can easily taste Lake Lobster, and for those interested, we will provide recipes for curries, pastas, and croquettes using Lake Lobster soup. We hope you will visit the venue and enjoy it.
