One-Point Advice from Ms. Hoshizuki

This session's theme is "About Water."

We will discuss the importance of daily hydration.

Hello everyone.

This is Hoshizuki.

The hot days continue, but are you doing well?

They say it's ideal to drink 2 liters of water a day, right?

For adults, water accounts for 55-65% of body weight.

Losing 1% of that causes thirst, while losing 2% can lead to dizziness, nausea, and loss of appetite.

Furthermore, losing 10% can cause fainting, and 20% can be life-threatening.

(If you don't drink any water, it's said that life support becomes difficult in 2-3 days...)

Consistently staying hydrated every day can lead to detoxification and improved skin quality.

The required water intake varies depending on age, body type, and season, but a general guideline is 35 ml per kg of body weight, so 1750 ml for a 50 kg person and 2100 ml for a 60 kg person.

(Food also contains water, so you can include that in your calculations!)

Some people may not like water, but tea or sports drinks are not true substitutes.

Try to find ways to drink more, even little by little, such as "drinking hot water" or "adding fruit."

Also, coffee and alcohol have diuretic effects, and excessive consumption can actually lead to dehydration.

Do not include them in your 2 liters of daily fluid intake, and prioritize active hydration, especially when you need to use the restroom frequently.

How you drink is also important. Drinking a large amount at once can cause your body to not absorb it, leading to unnecessary excretion, coldness, and swelling.

Aim to drink a glass (150ml-200ml) frequently, especially upon waking, during exercise, before and after bathing, and before bed!
